I tried this free MOD for Unreal Tournament and was hooked. While most of the world played Counter-Strike, I played this close clone. I actually had given Counter-Strike a try the day before downloading this mod, and since both were brand new to me, I went with the one that was more fun for me.

The mod was made by an avid counter-strike player so the resemblances can be contributed directly to CS. The use of a more up to date engine just resulted in a very fun similar game. TO was a bit faster and a bit more in depth, something intentional and nourished by the TO community. The guns are based on real guns, and although they have changed through the different versions of the game, they are always well balanced and realistic as far as damage, accuracy, recoil and rate of fire goes.

I prefer a AK-47 and Mossberg combination on the Terrorists side, and a M4 and DE combo on the SF side. When the retail version came out, I immediately bought it, but played the free version of 2.2 for quite a while longer before making the switch to the "enhanced" 3.15. After a huge upgrade to the shotguns, this became my favorite MOD. The recent patch levels the balance back a bit and continues to be a very precise and fun game.
