Who is IGD ?

IGD was born in 1984 by two friends of Rigormortiz (Jimmy&Donnie). They were toying around with the idea of a garage band called Infeectious Garage Disease. IGD and RigorSortiz actually played together at a party in a wharehouse, and this event was probably what started it all. The members of the bands meshed like gears. Rigormortiz's guitarist was Hole-n-the Head Leggage, who was known for going at 700mph 24/7, and was already about to leave. The chance to land Jimmy as a guitarist was not passed up. Jimmy brought along Donnie, a marvolusly fast and all around good drummer. Kieth, who replaced Todd, was vacated to make room for Donnie.By this time Rigormortiz had played many shows including opening up for Suicidal Tendancies (at the Oasis in SAC,CA), and opening up for Anthrax & Exodus (Placer County fairgrounds). Thier name had transcended through many slangular changes including Riga-fuk'n-mortiz, Mortis, Mortiz, & Mort, with the signing of a band from Texas and thier following album, The band went with the IGD banner. This move and subsequent change of band members did not in any way slow down the enthusiasm of the home town crowd. Now being IGD was already established itself with a small following of its own. This allowed both groups to intermerge within one another for one hell of a following. Thier demos still hold the sales record at the local record shop with better overall sales than any one paticular albulm they've ever carried. The Innagural show with the new band line up was held at a massive party in Roseville, CA. By this time Matt working as a roadie for Slayer. Kerry King was at the first show. The backyard had a pool that was drained, and the band played on the deep end's edge, never stopping or missing a beat when Matt would plunge into the whirling mass of slamdancers. The band was almost upstaged that night by Chris, a girl in skirt & high heels, knocked a linebacker sized guy through a fence with one righthand cross. IGD was a very popular party band but eventually could not play partys because too many people would show up. This was ok because they played many of shows. They played everywhere from, Ruthies in Berkley to the Hall at Davis to the 2nd level in Sac to the Soapbox in Auburn and all stops inbetween.

2nd Level, Sacramento opening for DRI

Times were good. The band cut a self-entitled full LP for Street Records, unfortunately due to incompetinance and stupidity the records were never properly distributed. The store with all the broken sales records from the demo tapes didnt even get a single copy! The closest store to carry the record was an hour drive from most of the fan base. Even so, they had Radio airtime in Berkley and Chico. The band was close to somthing special. Matt, who had been working for Slayer, cut a demo with Papsmear, and had genneraly been living the dream life, decided to go work for Slayer's record company, Def American Recordings. He then moved to LA, at one point living with Johnny the ex-chilli pepper. IGD (with most of the Matt written songs) decided to press on. Shane was added at the microphone and a new IGD age was born. Shane, while being a good musician, was just not the wild front man Matt was, nor did he even want to be commparred. Many times faking not being able to remember the words to the old, Matt written, songs. His music was technically supiorior to Matt's, and the band was very tight in composing new songs. But this could not compare to the legandary stage diving antics of the supreme screamer Matt, Afterall this was Punk Rock. But with the middle of the 90's creeping up on them and continued unrest in the band, IGD played one last spetacular show, Held in a massive 2-story house, Buef's bachelor party saw the last time IGD played together. This was in 1993.

Yet another Shane PicYes, yet another pic of the Shane man.

IGD did live on, Crash from Luxt came on as the bass player and Mike Parisi from another local band "Redrum" came on to play drums. This line up ended in 2000. Jimmy and Parisi still practice behind the porno shop in the storage shed every Sunday night. Jimmy comes down from his new home in Berkley and amongst the groans of orgasm from the video booths, the magical musical sounds of the ultimate punk and thrash band, Infectious Garage Disease, can still be heard to this day.
